A-Levels.

It’s that time of year again were thousands of teenagers are biting their nails in anticipation for their A-Level results. Therefore I thought I’d post something slightly different; my A-Level results day horror. Not to scare you, but to hopefully show you that if it doesn’t seem to go to plan, it’ll all be ok in the end.

Three years ago today I collected my A level results already knowing that my frantic searching and refreshing of the UCAS website had shown me that I hadn’t got into my first choice University, but I had a place in a University I did not want to go to. Yes silly me putting my second choice University as somewhere I didn’t want to go but I had my heart set on Sheffield so I thought that the rest didn’t matter.

I had already shouted, sobbed and screamed so when I picked up that envelope and found out that I had failed my English Literature exam, the only emotion I had left in me was despair. How had this happened? I argued with everyone and said bluntly that if I wasn’t going to Sheffield I wasn’t going to University. I was a nightmare to live with at the time.

I however asked to get my paper re-marked as I seemed to grasp onto my hope of going to Uni where I wanted.

Weeks later as freshers week was getting ever closer I still had no idea what I was going to do. Then 10 days before the start of term I got the news I had been hoping for; my English paper had been re-marked and I had got the grade needed for Sheffield. I couldn’t believe it, I however hadn’t bought anything to go to Uni with, didn’t have a confirmed place or anywhere to live. This brings me onto clearing.

Even though I had the grades I still ended up having to go through clearing and I got a place at Sheffield Hallam University and with days to go found accommodation in halls of residence. With a mad dash to the shops I was set and off I went.

I spent the next three years of my life having the most amazing time. I met some great people and loved my course. Not giving up on my dream of University was the best decision of my life and here I am now feeling sad that I am no longer a student.

Basically what I want to say is not to give up, I really believe things happen for a reason.

Good Luck to all collecting their results today and I promise I will be back to my usual posts next week.

The Liebster Award

287889liebster

So I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award and I am really excited about this. Thank you to Sincerely, Snow for the nomination. The award aims to make people more aware of the wonderful blogs out there with fewer than 200 followers. The basics of the award are that you get nominated by a blogger and then nominate a further 11 bloggers which deserve some more love.

The rules..

1 You must link back to the person that nominated you.

2 You must answer the 11 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.

3 You must pick 11 bloggers to be nominated for the award with under 200 followers.

4 You must come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer.

You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Keri’s questions..

1) What is one thing you wish you were brave (or rich) enough to try?

I would love to go travelling the world on my own and I always wish I’d gone on a gap year before I went to University. Unfortunately I’m a wuss and I need someone to come and hold my hand on planes. Hopefully one day!

2) Who was your first celebrity crush?

I’m not sure whether this was my first crush as my memory is terrible, but I had a crush on Lil’ Chris when I was about 14. How embarrassing. Anyone, remember him? Wonder what he’s doing now.

 3) If you could rewrite a film/book ending what would you chose and what would you change?

I’ve never seen the film for this but the ending of the book ‘One Day’ really annoyed me and therefore why I’ve still not seen the film. I think I’m the only person who didn’t like it, but I wanted them to live happily ever after at the end and they really didn’t. So all I’d do is not have Emma die, they get married; have babies and live happily ever after.

 4) What is your favourite decade and why?

I really wish I was around in the 80’s, simply just for the music and strangely for the hair styles. My hair naturally looks like I’ve had a perm so I suppose that would save me a lot of time if I was around then.

 5) Who is your style icon?

Pixie Lott, but that is mainly just because I want her hair!

 6) In honour of The Beauty Belle, who is your celebrity girl crush?

Lucy Mecklenburgh. Not gonna lie, I am really jealous of her.

7) What is your number one guilty pleasure?

Watching awful trash T.V. on a lazy pj day.

 8) Would you rather meet your ancestors or your great great great grandchildren?

My ancestors. I’d love to know if we are alike personality and looks wise. I think meeting my great great great grandchildren when I’m only 21 would scare me a little bit.

 9) What beauty skill do you wish you were better at? (i.e. liquid eyeliner)

The example liquid eyeliner is definitely something I wish I was better at. It takes me about 200 attempts to get it right or I blink and get it everywhere or get it in my eyes. If anyone can give me any tips on this I would be hugely grateful.

 10) If you could go to lunch with anyone in the world who would you pick?

Will Ferrell, although I would probably just sit there and quote his films at him. I’d get on his nerves.

 11) Would you rather a £5,000 shopping spree or a 5 night luxury vacation?

Definitely shopping spree. I have a long list of things I would love to buy but cannot afford. Also I’d love to go out and treat my family and friends to a shopping spree on me.

My 11 blog nominations are:

Sorry if you’ve already been nominated, but I thought you deserved another nomination!

My 11 questions are..

1) What one thing would you tell your younger self?

2) Favourite ever beauty item?

3) If you had one superpower for the day, what would it be and why?

4) Favourite film?

5) The one place you’d love to visit?

6) What job did you want to have as a child?

7) Your number one beauty tip?

8) If you could meet one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

9) Who is your ‘weird’ celebrity crush?

10) What is your favourite high street store?

11) What is your favourite drug store/high street makeup brand and why?

I look forward to reading your answers!

Oh dear.

I’ve had a disaster, a hair related disaster. Now I know I shouldn’t be so vain; there are worse things to class as a disaster, but when your blonde locks are no longer blonde and are yellow (actual yellow) and the top of your head looks like you’ve tried to recreate tiger print; something is wrong. Very wrong.

I get bored really quickly with my hair and instead of getting it all chopped off again or going brunette, I decided that I wanted platinum blonde hair. Big mistake.

So now I am the owner of yellow hair. I’ve decided that instead of trying to start a trend of yellow hair I am going to go back to my old blonde; never will I get bored of you again (I promise.) Yellow is a nice colour for summer, but not when it’s your hair.

I was going to add a picture of my hair to show you, but I cannot bring myself to show the internet world my hair. Sorry guys.

I’ve had many hair disasters in my time including a 90’s boyband fringe in 2006 of which I kept for over a year. I still have no idea what I was thinking!

So I’d love to know your hair disasters and also what is the worst hairstyle you’ve ever had?

What’s in my handbag tag.

I’ve wanted to do the ‘what’s in my bag tag’ for a while now and I’ve finally got round to it.

Firstly two confessions:

  1. I swap and change my handbags around so much, so this time next week I will probably be using another one.
  2. I carry so much useless junk around with me.

We are finally having some nice weather in the UK and so I have just swapped to what I like to call my ‘Summer Bag.’ I think it’s just the colour that makes me think this, but either way I will always bring this bag out when the weather’s nice.

Image

This bag was from River Island a while a go and is a good size for all the essentials!

Image

From left to Right:

Umbrella – You can never ever predict British weather and so this goes everywhere with me

Notebook– I like the comic book print on this and you never know when you need to jot something down.

Mini Perfume – From Avon. I seem to keep a lot of  things in miniature size in my bag.

Blonde Bobby Pins – That end up EVERYWHERE.

Ipod – Goes everywhere with me, even just to play Sudoku on it (I’m a little bit addicted.)

Radley Purse – Always full of receipts and never money.

MUA Foundation – The MUA range from Superdrug is affordable and of decent quality and so I always keep a spare in my bag.

Compact Mirror.

Vaseline in Rose Tint – My essential beauty item.

Chewing Gum and pens

Flip video camera – I have a fear that I’ll need to video something desperately and hate the video quality on my phone. I hardly use this camera, but I still insist bringing it everywhere. Why!?

Balance Me Lipgloss – A free gift, but it is a wonderful lipgloss.

Phone

Sunglasses

Contact Lenses case

MUA Concealer stick

Barry M Nail Varnish- No idea why this is in my bag.

Miniature Eyeliner pencil- Yet another miniature!

Jergens Moisturiser – Another free gift, but it goes everywhere with me. It smells lovely.

Surprisingly after carrying around this lot everyday I don’t have an abnormally muscular arm! What do you keep in your bag?

An Update!

So it appears I haven’t blogged for over a month now; so I apologise. BUT I have some news!

This blog was a project I worked on whilst at University but now I’ve recently finished Uni and I am no longer a student (boohoo.) However I’ve decided to keep on with this blog.

I loved writing it so much and now that I have a bit more spare time I will try and blog more frequently!

Thanks for reading, and hope you carry on reading in the future!

Onesies. Love or Loathe?

Picture from nowmagazine.co.uk

Picture from nowmagazine.co.uk

With 1 in 8 people now owning a onesie, it looks like the adult babygrow will not be going anywhere, anytime soon. A few years ago we all laughed at the odd celebrity sporting an all-in-one, yet now the good old onesie appears to have become a fashion favourite and an outdoor fashion favourite at that.

Now I can see why you would wear a onesie in the comfort of your own home, a cosy, warm, pyjama like item that no one will see you wear, but wearing one down to the shops is beyond me, I really don’t see the attraction.
So I’m going to test this, in the upcoming weeks I will venture to the outside world in onesie and I shall report to you how I got on.

Keep your eyes peeled

Perfect doesn’t exist

picture from fashionnewslive.com

picture from fashionnewslive.com

I know this issue has been constantly debated, but I feel the need to comment. We are surrounded by images of “perfect” bodies and are taught that this is the norm in society. If you don’t look like that then there is something wrong with you and you must try to achieve this perfect body image.

We now live in the knowledge that most of the images we see are photoshopped, yet we still feel a compelling need to look like that.

I have looked at images of celebrities and thought why don’t i look like that; maybe because I don’t have a personal trainer, a personal hairdresser, a personal chef and a personal make up artist, however I still feel that I should look something like them.

I see pictures of celebrities in magazines apparently looking “fat” and see such comments as “what a whale” this is usually of celebrities of a normal, healthy weight. Which is rather saddening.

Perfect doesn’t exist! 90% of women have stretch marks, yet we are taught that it is “ugly.” Most women have cellulite, yet we are told this is wrong too.

It isn’t wrong at all. And yet there is a feeling in society that you must look a certain way. Why must you cover up something that is natural? Everyone is different and every body is different, embrace it!
